WARWICKSHIRE OPEN STUDIOS 2022
SUMMER ART WEEKS
I'm not too sure where the time has gone! In less than a weeks' time - this Saturday in fact - Warwickshire Open Studios begins
Quick round up: Over the last couple of months, I took part in Earlsdon Festival in May, which was great fun having a stall and being back out meeting people and sharing my art - I even managed to be interviewed by Coventry and Warwickshire Radio! I've been busy workshopping at Bonds Lifestyle and Sew Me Something, both near Stratford-upon-Avon, and then on Saturday I held my first workshop at Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry. It has, as always, been great to meet folk and teach them how to linocut print. I've received some really lovely feedback about my workshops, and am over the moon to see so many folk enjoying printmaking! Even if you've never held a linocut tool before, there's nothing to worry about - it's always a really creative and relaxed day with like-minded folk. Upcoming dates are available in the workshop section of the website - a little heads up though that places can go quickly as I advertise them during Open Studios as well, so if you've had an eye on a particular date......
OK - on to Summer Art Weeks and Warwickshire Open Studios! Where to find me:
Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June : Coventry
You'll be able to find me in my parents' beautiful front garden on the 18th and 19th June - set your sat nav to CV4 7BW - Ivy Farm Lane - and keep an eye out for the banners and signs that will direct you there from Cannon Hill Road. (Ivy Farm Lane is near to the Crematorium end of Cannon Hill Road, between the row of shops and the Crem - the bright signs will be out!) We'll be setting up a gazebo on the garden, rigging up the display doors, hanging out the bunting and putting on the kettle..... there's even rumours of cake! Here's a picture of the banner which is taking pride of place at the front of the garden for all to see!
I'll have my cards and prints with me, and it's a really lovely setting to come for a chat and a cuppa, and, if the forecast stays as it is, is looking like a beautiful weekend. It would be lovely to see you.
We'll be on the front garden and open for visitors from 10.30am to 4.30pm - there's some, limited parking on the drive and in front of next door, but if those spaces are taken, please park carefully on the lane or by Cannon Hill shops.

Leamington Spa: Art @ St Nicholas House
I will be joining five other fabulous artists at St. Nicholas House in Leamington Spa for the final two long weekends of Summer Art Weeks. This year we are looking at THE BIGGER PICTURE and have been sharing facts about and images from the artists taking place over on our Instagram account @artatstnicks. It's all about finding out more about the artists behind the work as this year, after two years of limiting our contact, it's great to get out and meet people and share what makes us all tick as well as our artwork.
I will be joining Janette George (painter), Jacqui Smithson (felt and multimedia artist), Victoria Noyes (jeweller), Dave Chantrey (photography) and, new to the group this year, Katy Walden (painter) who is joining us for her first ever Warwickshire Open Studios event. Come and meet us all behind the big blue door and discover lots of fabulous artwork in a beautiful house.
Please come and find us at St. Nicholas House, 30 Willes Road, Leamington Spa, CV31 1BN. We are open from noon until 5pm on 24th-26th June and 1st-3rd July. It's well worth finding the Instagram account to find out more about us all - I'll pop a link here for you - there's a lot more posts coming about us all over the next few days! https://www.instagram.com/artatstnicks/
Warwickshire Open Studios have over 400 artists this year taking part at 149 venues across Coventry and Warwickshire. If you haven't spied a brochure on your travels, I'll put a link to the online flipbook below, and you can also find out and search for artists and venues on their website too. It's well worth looking to see who is close to different venues and then you can have a real explore and discover new artists and places! Flip book link: CLICK HERE FOR FLIPBOOK

June 2020
First things first; I hope that this finds you well in these very strange times! I thought it could be good to start a place on the site that I can quickly update with news and ongoing work as it appears and so I can share some of my progress videos etc before I'm ready to write a blog or a newsletter - not that there's been many of either recently. Things have taken a bit of a pause because of lockdown. Workshops are obviously postponed to later dates, and I've also had sciatica which means I haven't been able to carve. However - there is some exciting news! This June/July Warwickshire Open Studios is going virtual! Here are the links (click on the words!) to my Warwickshire Open Studio page and also to the Art @ St.Nicholas House flipbook, where I am virtually exhibiting this summer! Please go and take a look and there will be more new to come soon. I've just popped my new workshop dates up on the workshop page too.
Meanwhile, here's a short (and speeded up!) video of me carving my newest linocut before my back started playing up! I'm not usually this quick..... more updates coming soon. Take care, alix x
