It seems an age since the last newsletter but the time seems to have flown - especially as this e-mail includes Autumn/Winter Fair dates and also workshop dates for early 2020!!! The last few months have been quiet fair-wise; I had a great time in early September at the Kenilworth Arts Festival but have been keeping busy teaching workshops - it has been marvelous to pass on the wonder of the printing spoon and seeing people enjoying making their first linocut prints! I'll kick straight off with the information... I've popped weblinks where you can find more information too by each fair/festival. Fair Dates coming first and then workshop dates announced at the end! Autumn/Winter Fair Dates Contemporary Arts Festival: Discover Gather Give @ Stratford Town Hall Friday 1st November (PV by invite only) 6 - 8.30pm Saturday 2nd November 10.30am - 5pm Sunday 3rd November 10.30am - 4pm Free entry https://discovergathergive.co.uk This fabulous festival is curated by the lovely Judith, who brings together wonderful artists - a great opportunity to commission Christmas gifts, and also visit the Golden Cup Cafe - great coffee and cake! The Private View on the Friday night includes Stratford Gin and nibbles and a really relaxed evening to chat to the artists. I've attached a copy of the invite to the PV; it would be lovely if you could come and join us for the evening. Here's a copy of the flyer image for the fair - I am very proud to have my Blue Tit linocut on there! My new Christmas card designs will also be launched here too! Over the past few fairs there have been enough donations made to be able to name a Guide Dog puppy - come along and help choose the name! Blue Magpie Contemporary Craft Fair @ Elmslie House, Malvern Saturday 16th November 10.30 am - 4.30 pm £2 entry per adult https://www.elmsliehouse.co.uk/ I am really excited to be travelling a little further afield and taking part at this fair in Malvern! There are over 35 designer-makers set over two floors in a fabulous building; tea and cake also available! Art @ St. Nicholas House, Leamington Spa. Saturday 23rd November and Sunday 24th November 11am - 6pm Free entry Another new fair for me - and what a fair it will be! There are seven artists exhibiting at the fabulous St.Nicholas House in Leamington Spa; Janette George (painting), Paul Joyner (wire sculpture), Sylvia Fogg (jewellery), Claire Seneviratne (ceramics), David Chantrey (photography), Jacqui Smithson (textiles) and myself. You may recognise the names in the line up from Warwickshire Open Studios! There will be a friendly welcome as well as warming cups of mulled cider (or tea or coffee) as well as demonstrations by the artists. More information can be found on the facebook event page here: https://www.facebook.com/ArtatStNicks Warwickshire Wildlife Trust Christmas Craft Fair @ Brandon Marsh Saturday 7th December 10am - 3pm Entry fee for Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve (https://www.warwickshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/BrandonMarsh) I'm returning to this lovely fair for my last Winter fair of the year. Set in one of my favourite places - bring your walking boots and binoculars and go and explore the reserve too, plus Badgers Cafe for cake and coffee or lunch! Always a great charity to support and lots of lovely local artists and crafts people usually including environmentally friendly gifts and alternatives to plastic solutions! https://www.facebook.com/events/331449150808878/ Workshop Dates
As I mentioned at the beginning of the blog, I've been loving teaching the wonder of linocut to folks throughout the year; I have my two final workshops of the year coming up at the lovely Farthing Workshop in Kenilworth where I am teaching two-colour reduction linocut. It's been lovely to meet so many folk and also have people keep in contact and share their new prints with me. It's been great to have people returning to my workshops for another session too, and I am incredibly proud to have received a Gold Student's Choice Award for my linocut workshops at Bonds too. You can read my reviews here: https://www.craftcourses.com/courses/linocut-printing-workshop-in-warwickshire-at-bonds-lifestyle In the new year I have three dates booked in at Bonds Lifestyle for single colour linocut workshops. The price for these includes a light lunch and afternoon coffee/tea and cake. You can find out more information about the workshops by clicking on the link above or on the 'workshops' tab above. You can book on to the courses by visiting the 'buy' tab above too. Saturday 18th January Saturday 8th February Saturday 7th March Please keep an eye on the website, or further dates will also be announced on facebook/twitter/instagram or via a newsletter! Finally, thank you so much for your support over the year so far, and I really hope to catch up with you at one of my upcoming fairs or maybe even at a workshop! Warmest regards, alix x
